Goal of the course
This course is elective and is addressed mainly to senior undergraduate students interested in a career in physics education. Its main goals are to familiarize the students with teaching physics in highschool, to develop a mentality of teacher-researcher, and to familiarize the students with the peer-reviewed literature in highschool physics education and with the literature on different teaching methods and approaches.

Friday, 13:00-15:00, Room 1
Syllabus
1) attend classes in a local highschool, during which the student tries to identify different teaching techniques through structured observation. 2) teach a one-hour class in a local highschool based on a well prepared structured plan 3) teach a second one-hour class in a local highschool where, in addition to following as structured teaching plan, the student introduces a teaching innovation based on an article chosen from the peer-reviewed literature on physics education. 4) attend a weekly workshop that helps the student prepare the above course requirements and present them to his/her fellow students for a critical evaluation 5) write a final paper based on the overall educational experience
