From 2000 to 2005 he worked at the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Berlin as a Ph.D. candidate. From 2005 to 2011 he worked at the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung in Düsseldorf as head of the Microstructure group and from 2012 to 2022 as head of the Growth Modelling group (link: https://www.mpie.de/3119107/growth). In 2011 he worked for 6 months as a research associate at the Department of Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2022 he was appointed as Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Crete.
His research interests include the development of first-principles based methodologies for the study and design at the nanoscale of novel materials with technological applications mainly in electronics and optoelectronics: Surfaces and epitaxial growth and properties of compound semiconductors and related nanostructures such as quantum wells.
